The first of three live tapings we’ll do every year from the beautiful Dixon Theatre. I’ve wanted a midwest home for Jazz Inspired for years and now Dixon is it! I tape the shows all over the world, but primarily in Los Angeles, NYC and London. The Dixon Theatre location gives me the backdrop of this gorgeous, historic theater and access to the wonderful musicians in nearby Chicago and other midwest cities.

March 11th my guest will be trombonist Russ Phillips. We’ll be joined by guitarist Andy Brown. We’ll play, we’ll talk, we’ll take questions from the audience and record it all for later broadcast on NPR.

Russ is an international jazz festival favorite. And here’s a bit of trivia: Russ’ father played trombone in Louis Armstrong’s band!
