Opatija, Croatia
I’m here with my good pal David Habbin, a wonderful singer and entertainer I first met on Seabourn Quest’s 2011 New Year’s cruise.
We spent the day exploring this gorgeous coastal city, first envisioned by Franz Joseph, who thought it would be a great place for interesting people to gather, build homes and have some fun. And they did. A mural depicts Einstein, Mahler and others who visited or lived here and one of my favorites, Nabokov, spent time here as a child.
There are no beaches so steps and railings lead down into the ocean. It’s hard to fully appreciate from a photo, but it was wonderful.
The locals were friendly and even the dogs, as you can see, were super chic.
This is our little celebration after my concert and last night on Seabourn Quest. From left, Jeff Socia and David Habbin, both wonderful singers from the show, and Handre Potgeiter, one of my favorite cruise directors. My guys sent me off in style!
